Iron Man - Now Playing
It's a prequel in search of the action movie that was promised. Everyone seems to love it, and I enjoyed it, but the critics have gone overboard. The interplay between Downey Jr. and Paltrow is fun, but not as exciting as Clooney and Zellweger in Leatherheads.

Made Of Honor - Now Playing
I stuck my mother in it and peeked at the screen a few times, but I am not into chick flicks. My mom enjoyed it, and there is something about Patrick Dempsey, but in the end Dempsey is best served by TV.

Speed Racer - Opens Tonight at Midnight
The "Matrix Brothers" bounce back from V for Vendetta
(which I liked) with what looks like a family film for CGI geeks. It will live or die on whether kids can sit through a 2 hour and 15 minute movie.

What Happens in Vegas - Opens Tonight at Midnight
I'm betting that this is a surprise at the box office. Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz are overrated as sex symbols, but America always runs to movies with a Vegas hook.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian - Opens May 15 at Midnight
The first one was good enough, and I once actually had and read the six volume C.S. Lewis set, or was it seven? So I am looking forward to it, but I would recommend reading the books as well. |

Sex and the City - Opens May 29 at Midnight
OK. I admit it. I have never watched an episode of Sex and the City. So I am not enthralled by the internet rumors that somebody might die in the movie, though if they do a scene based on Nelson Rockefeller's demise, I might get interested. |

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Opens May 21 at Midnight
Based on Harrison Ford's age and recent movie history, I would expect this to be a parody of the Indiana Jones series. But I can't see Spielberg blowing a chance at another megahit, so I expect him to pull this off. Considering that both Rocky 6 and Rambo 4 (pardon my numbers if they are wrong) were decent enough, I figure Ford can pull himself together for at least one more movie. By the way - I cannot believe that the original Rambo is being released on DVD this month with an alternate ending. Did they just film it, or has it been tucked away in Stallone's closet all these years? If anyone buys it, please let me know what happens in the alternate ending. I am more interested in that than in What Happens in Vegas. |
